New Teacher Training Center

The New Teacher Training Center (NTTC) Program started in 2011 with the support of Forderverein Myanmar e.V. The program features all English instruction, except for Myanmar language subject, to middle school students from Grades 5 to 8. The teaching method is the Learner-Centered Approach, an extension and continuation of the Child-Centered Approach used at the PDO primary school level. This approach continues to develop the students’ critical thinking skills for them to become future active citizens in their communities.

The NTTC Program has received generous support from Forderverein Myanmar e.V. between 2011 and 2015, as well as from British Council and many foreign volunteers. They have aided PDO by giving teachers’ training and English training to NTTC teachers, as well as sending German experts and volunteers.

The NTTC Program has become a model amongst monastic schools in Myanmar.
