New Teaching Method Implemented in Mainstream Department

Starting from 2019-2020 academic year, Mainstream Department will incorporate the learner-centered Reading-Writing-Critical Thinking (RWCT) approach in their curriculum. This teaching method has been applied in the Fast Track program and NTTC program previously. This year, the RWCT approach is now  incorporated in the primary level of Mainstream, with plans of expansion to the middle school level in future academic years.

In the classroom, teachers will introduce more student-led learning activities and critical thinking skills. For English Language subject, the department will also start teaching in English with 40 local teachers and some foreign volunteers. In addition, the class size will reduce to 30-40 students per class. New activities outside of the classroom, such as gardening, painting and singing, will also be introduced for the students’ well-rounded development and learning.
